Some of life's greatest companions come to us in print. A well placed author and book read in a specific life season seems to bring transformation in my own life. Three standout books for my journey during the last 5-6 years are: Katrina Kennison's The Gift of an Ordinary Day: A Mother's Memoir, Sue Monk Kidd's When the Heart Waits: Spiritual Direction for Life's Sacred Questions, and Brene Brown's Daring Greatly: How the Courage to be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent and Lead.

These authors have walked alongside me through parenting visions, boundary issues, spiritual journeys, facing fears, and leaning into new beginnings. These three books are massively highlighted, the page corners are folded, and so many words/thoughts/convictions/dreams of my own are penned on the pages within the covers.

I'm often amazed at the timing of going through a certain chapter on a particular day. Each author has spoken honestly to their reader (to me), and has brought layers of inspiration. In their own ways, they've been life coaches to me; meeting me where I've been at during that particular season or situation, and equipping me to believe in myself, my vision, and to move forward along my life journey.

When was the last time you sat down with a book that became so much a part of you and your journey?

Wishing you happy reading. Seize the book. Seize the moment.
